PHP on local PC and internet server?
« on: November 21, 2016, 05:48:59 PM »
I am sooo confused. I have installed Sitebuilder Lite on my site plus added MySQL and php using the c-panel. I have installed XAMP on my PC. When I try to login in to
Code: [Select]
http://localhost/my site.com it returns Object not found! as well as Error 404.

It seems to me that I'm probably supposed to make changes to the phpMyAdmin section on my PC, like install user, give permissions etc. I I haven't done that since I don't know if it should match user name, password or database name on the server.

I have searched Google but the explanations might as well have been in hieroglyphic form for all I understood. any help will be appreciated.

Hi Tom,

Not 100% certain on this but I would have thought using sitebuilder lite and installed to your server along with a connected MySQL database to the builder, you would need to login to the server side (mydomain.com/sitebuilder) for example and not locally using localhost and XAMP

XAMP will only show you a local view of PHP applications and sites that are stored on your PC and sitting inside your XAMP directory and sub directory of htdocs

Thanks Mick. You cleared up my confusion about XAMP. Since I ran the installation script I'm unable to log into mysite.com - http error 500. The installation script said "Sitebuilder has been successfully installed...LOG INTO SITEBUILDER, but the link didn't work. so, I've sent a message to Sitebuilder. Maybe hear something tomorrow.
