Additional Added Security To The Board
« on: December 12, 2015, 11:04:36 AM »
Hi All,

Just as an added bit of security to the board, we have introduced a little spam protection for the new users (and some of you already registered) coming in to join us as members, basically on your first 5 posts to any section within the board, you "must" pass a Captcha verification at the foot of your post which hopefully will deter possible spammers.

Once the 5 post mark is reached, you will no longer need to verify your post and pressing the post button will then automatically enter your post to the board.

Hope this doesn't cause too much inconvenience to members already registered with less than 5 posts but we do want to try and minimise any possible spammers coming in to spoil our fun and community.

Regards  [ninj]

Sounds eminently sensible to me, Mick. Rather this than being faced with wall-to-wall SPAM.

Perhaps you could mention this system to them over at CP, but then again, it's probably too complicated for them.

It's fairly simple Joe. Just cut slices about 1/4" thick and chuck them in the pan.

The most important anti-spam feature which has happily been implemented here is not to have a section on SEO. There's nothing more likely to attract the buggers.

This is a good idea, I'm not too worried with entering a CAPTCHA, particularly as it will help to deter the real spammers (providing I can manage to suss out the letters!).

Three down and two to go, Ken! I hope you haven't found the CAPTCHA letters to be a major hurdle (or perhaps that should be "a major confusion").

I'm sure Ken will cope.
